Tokyo Joe's Leaves DU -- Fagan's Reincarnated as Boone's

As you may have noticed, Tokyo Joe's has shuttered its location on Evans Ave., near the University of Denver campus. This stretch of Evans is increasingly looking like a ghost town with empty shops dotting both sides of the street. Very depressing, really.

And the empty restaurant/bar location at the corner of Evans Ave. and Downing Street, which was most recently known as "Smugs" and prior to that for decades known as the popular local watering hole "Fagan's," looks like it is going to reopen in November as "Boone's." The new DU mascot is supposedly going to be a character named Denver Boone, so I guess the name makes sense. Judging from the amount of construction going on in the old building, it looks like November is a doable date. Hurrah! We are happy to hear our favorite neighborhood bar is rising from the ashes once again and not being turned into a high rise!
