Festival of the Bastardino Sept. 9 -- FREE and Dogs Welcome!

Man's best friend is more than welcome at this festival celebrating mixed heritage dogs. This annual fund-raiser for Englewood-based Freedom Service Dogs has canines from the entire Denver area begging their owners to let them make a splash in the Doggie Plunge at Pirates Cove Water Park! Festivities run from 10AM-4PM and admission is FREE! Cost of Doggie Plunge $10 for 30 minutes or $20 unlimited all-day pass. Browse booths selling a variety of products and art, win fabulous items at a silent auction, participate in activities, games, food, and fun for the entire family. Watch presentations from Colorado Disk Dogs, Angelyne the Amazing Deaf Cattle Dog, Service Dog demonstrations, and more. All Festival proceeds support the non-profit organization Freedom Service Dogs in its mission to rescue dogs from local shelters and train them to become service dogs for people with disabilities and military veterans. This is a great group, doing good work and yes, I am a volunteer there, so I am prejudiced, lol.

Please remember that dogs must be on-leash in Belleview Park. Current vaccinations and valid rabies tag required.. Belleview Park & Pirates Cove Water Park is located at Belleview Avenue & Windermere Street just east of Santa Fe Drive and 6 miles west of Interstate 25. Info at Freedom Service Dog website.
