Stock Show Parade Downtown and FREE Jan. 6

Kicking off the Stock Show on January 6, 2011 at noon is a parade down 17th Street in downtown Denver.  Wranglers will herd two dozen Longhorn cattle down 17th, and there will be clowns, rodeo queens and cowboys galore, as well as Old West stagecoaches and covered wagons, trick ropers, horse drill teams, mountain men, Buffalo soldier re-enactors, Country & Western bands, marching bands and floats. FREE! Don't miss out on the National Western Barbecue held in conjunction with the Downtown Parade. Beginning at 11:30AM  in the atrium of the Wells Fargo Building, visitors can listen to western music and catch a VIP western fashion show, all while eating some of the West's best barbecue. The Barbecue is open to the public and benefits the 4-H International Youth group; meal tickets are $9.

The National Western Stock Show is Colorado's largest trade show. The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce reports the 2005 National Western Stock Show had an economic impact of about $84.1 million a figure that has grown by about $8 million since the report based on the ’98 stock show.
