Eat It and Weep - Denver's Greek Fest June17-19

Party like Zorba at Denver's annual Greek Festival, June 17-19 on the grounds of Assumption Greek Orthodox Cathedral (the beautiful church with the giant gold dome by Alameda  and Leetsdale). The price is right --- all day admission is just $2 and kids under 12 and seniors get in FREE. Enjoy live music, dancing, youth performances, and Greek boutiques filled with clothing and art. Most of all, enjoy Greek food so delish (lamb! Loukaniko! gyros! baklava!) that will make you fall to your knees weeping.  Open Friday & Saturday from 11AM-11PM and Sunday 11AM to 8PM. Keep in mind that this festival can be overwhelmingly crowded, especially the food lines, so pack lots of patience. Personally, I think the best time to go is after 9PM when the crowds die down a bit. Seating out of the sun can also be challenging, another reason to hit the festival at night.

There is parking in their lower lot near the East Gate, and on Colorado Blvd and Alameda at the Target parking, where shuttles will run throughout the day. There is also valet parking for $5 per car in the upper lot at the Metropolis Center lot. The Cathedral upper lot also has handicapped parking. Several of Denver’s finest charities are benefited through this event including Bonfils Blood Center, Denver Children’s Home, Families First, and St. Nicholas Church. Visit thegreekfestival.com or call 303-388-9314 for information. Opa!
