City of Denver's FREE Mulch Giveaway and Compost Sale Saturday May 7

The City & County of Denver will be holding its annual FREE MULCH GIVEAWAY & COMPOST SALE on Saturday, May 7th. The location is in Northeast Denver, at Havana Nursery, 10450 Smith Rd., just south of I-70 on Havana St. They'll offer mulch and compost loader service for trucks and trailers, and dig-your-own. You are limited to 3 cubic yards of compost per vehicle. Compost Prices: $3 per 10 gallon bag or $30.00 per cubic yard (plus tax).Compost will only be sold while supplies last.
You can also dig-your-own at the city's FREE MULCH Site:  Sloan's Lake Park, Sheridan Blvd. & 17th Ave.

The free mulch is made by grinding up Christmas trees collected from residential homes during Denver's Treecycle collection in January. The compost is made from leaves collected in Denver's LeafDrop program last fall. This event is sponsored by Denver Recycles, a program of Denver Public Works Solid Waste Management section, Denver Parks & Recreation and A1 Organics.

Please remember:
  • Bring your own pitchfork or shovel and your own bags or containers to collect your supply of mulch or compost if you plan on digging your own from the pile.
  • Bring a tarp to cover your truck or trailer.
  • Due to limited quantities, Denver residents only.
  • Commercial vehicles are prohibited from taking or selling the City's mulch.
