Don't forget that Saturday March 12 is the 49th annual Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Lodo. The parade is slated to feature dozens of floats, hundreds of marchers and loads of music, all in celebration of the Emerald Isle. Admission is FREE. Bring a folding chair and get there early, it looks like the weather is going to cooperate! Potatoes for everyone!
As always, the Queen Colleen will reign over the parade: 2011’s Queen, Keriyan O’Donnell, is a senior at Colorado State University studying animal science. Local folk musician Roz Brown is the grand marshal. This year’s theme, “Forever Green,” is a salute to Colorado’s natural beauty. The parade kicks off at 10AM at Blake and 27th Streets, continues on Blake to 17th Street, then runs west to Wynkoop and toward Coors Field. For more information, visit denverstpatricksdayparade.org.
As usual, our favorite place for post-parade hijinks is the Irish Snug on Colfax, which sponsors the Capitol Hill Hooley, an annual St. Pat's celebration that runs this weekend, and next Thursday, which is St. Pat's. Go here for a complete schedule of activities, including pipers, dancers, singers and plenty of adult beverages and good chow.
