Denver Healthy Eats for Aug. 17

First off, most stores and farmer's markets are now selling locally grown Rocky Ford melons, Olathe corn and Palisade peaches. While most of it is conventionally grown, it is fresh, priced well and delicious. Bon appetite!
 Today, Wednesday Aug. 17 and today only, Whole Foods is offering Applegate Farms turkey for $2.99 a pound. Sammy's Bread is $2 and Finlandia Cheese is $3. Previously frozen wild caught sockeye salmon is $8.99 a pound.
Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers has Amy's Frozen Burritos, wraps and gluten-free burritos for $1.99 and organic Thompson seedless raisins for $1.99 a pound.

Sunflower Markets has organic strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries for $2.99 a pound. Organic grapes for $2.99 a pound and organic tomatoes for $1.99 a pound.
And King Soopers has canned conventionally tomatoes and corn for 49 cents each.

Cheap and Healthy Eats

Tomorrow (Oct. 13) and tomorrow only, Whole Foods is offering pumpkins for 99 cents each (regularly $3.99), orchids for $9.99 and buy one, get one FREE specials on those yummy 34 Degrees crackers ($4.49) and Natural Factors 500mg chewable vitamin C tablets, also at $9.99. As always Whole Foods’ weekly Wednesday one-day sale prices are in effect while supplies last. Click here for Colorado locations. Vitamin Cottage's flyer is located here and they're offering organic pears for 99 cents a pound and organic whole chickens at 99 cents a pound. Don't forget that Wednesday is also Double Ad Wednesday at Sunflower Markets today!!  Peruse both flyers here and take advantage of sales in both ads when you shop on Wednesdays only. Also, if you are a Costco member, organic eggs are selling there for about $4 for a carton of 18.
