Denver Pet Food Drive Oct. 6-Nov. 10

Here's an easy way to contribute to the community - AARP, PAWS Colorado, The Center and PetSmart are collecting pet food and supplies to help animals of senior citizens, people with disabilities and those facing life-challenging illnesses.

The group will have collection bins will be at 15 PetSmart locations across the Denver metro area from Oct. 6 through Nov. 10. The GLBT Center of Colorado also is providing a drop-off site for donations at 1301 E. Colfax Ave. in Denver. All the donation sites can be found here.

The greatest need is for bags of dry dog and cat food as well as kitty litter. They cannot accept prepackaged food or used pet supplies, in order to protect the health of the animals.

If you know someone who needs help with their animals check out Pets Are Wonderful Support (P.A.W.S.)  website to see if they and their companion animals qualify for food, litter, or veterinary care, as well as services such as litter box cleaning, nail trimming or dog walking.
