Celebrate National Burger Day in South Denver

In honor of National Cheeseburger Day, which happens to be today, Sept. 18, we are providing a list of places to grab a great burger in the DU/South Denver neighborhood. Chow down! Cows...we salute you!

Crown Burger. Burgers galore and lots more to choose from, including their amazing non-Health Mark pastrami burger. Yum. Very easy on the wallet. 2195 S Colorado Blvd. Denver.

Crown Burger Plus.  Worth fighting the lunch crowd for one of these tasty burgers. Excellent shakes. 2387 S. Downing, Denver.

Candlelight Tavern - Great prices. Great burger. Great bar. Great happy hour. What more is there?  383 S. Pearl St. Denver.

The Pub on Pearl - Big black Angus burgers are to die for. Between $4.50-$6. Plenty of happy hour drink specials -- check the website. 1101 S. Pearl, Denver.

Good Times -- Fast food at its best. Burgers the way you like them, great onion rings and killer shakes. 1300 S. Colorado Blvd. and 2095 S. Broadway, are the locations closest to DU neighborhood. More locations here.

Ogden Street South --Excellent place to cash in on burgers/fries/drink deal while catching a game. 103 S. Ogden, Denver. Weds. night all you can eat sliders $6.

Lincoln's Road House -- Live blues music and no cover provides the finishing touch on their big sloppy burgers. Try something different with their meatloaf burger. Coupon here makes it a great deal. 1201 S. Pearl St. Denver.

Hanson's Grill -- The best patio in the neighborhood. A little pricey but the $4 burger specials on Monday make for a great deal. 1301 S. Pearl St. Denver.

Bonnie Brae Tavern -- The Grande Dame of South Denver diners. Very good food, great for families and nostalgia buffs. $1 off burgers on Tuesday nights, and they always have some kind of dinner special going on. 740 South University Blvd., Denver.

Park Burger -- Haven't eaten there yet but I am told the hefty burgers are quite good. Burgers average around $7-$10, which is probably explains why I haven't eaten there yet. 1890 S. Pearl St. Denver.

Boone's Tavern -- Big fat juicy burgers for about $7.50. Friendly atmosphere and all the food  is pretty good. Happy hour spans from 11AM-7PM, with excellent food and drink deals 1135 E. Evans, Denver.

Spanky's Roadhouse. Come for the burgers, but I urge you to stay for the weekend fish fry. Satisfying $6 burger special on Tuesday nights. Always some kind of killer drink or chow special going on. Family friendly.
