Justice in 2010 DU Robbing/Kidnapping

Montoya
Here's a cautionary tale. If you meet strangers in a local bar, don't invite them to your home. See this piece of crap on the left? His name is Zachery Montoya and he, along with two accomplices, met a local resident in a DU area bar and were subsequently invited to a home in the 2300 block of South Williams Street in July of 2010. Montoya and his cronies tied up the occupants of the home, assaulted them, terrorized them and held them at gunpoint, demanding money.

Segura
Fortunately, one victim was able to break free of his restraints, grab a gun left by one of the suspects and kill one of Montoya's accomplices, Daniel DeLeon, 34. The victim/homeowner that shot DeLeon was exonerated under Colorado's "Make My Day" law.

Montoya, 33, was convicted earlier this year of kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and first-degree assault in the case. He was sentenced yesterday to 113 years in prison. Excellent.

A third accomplice, the lovely and talented Francine Segura, 35, (pictured right) was also found guilty of kidnapping and aggravated robbery. She held a gun to one victim's head during the ordeal. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan.  9, 2012. Segura cooperated with the cops, so she'll probably get a lighter sentence.
