Denver Holiday Lights 2011

Well, the bad news is that Hudson Gardens' annual holiday light show is canceled for the 2011-12 season. The Museum of Outdoor Arts, which provided Hudson Gardens with the lights' design, materials and manpower to put the show together said that they couldn't afford to continue operating the show at a loss. Bah humbug. This was by far the best holiday lights show in Denver.

Don't despair. You still have the option of Denver Zoo's Zoolights, Dec. 9 to Jan. 1. Hours are 5-9PM. Admission is $9 for adults (ages 12-64), $5 for kids (ages 3-11), $7 for seniors over 65. Members get $2 off admission fees. Also, Bring a non-perishable food donation and receive $1 off your Zoo Lights admission.  Purchase Tickets for Zoolights here.

And the stalwart Denver Botanic Gardens' Blossoms of Light, beginning December 2, 2011 through January 1 from 5:30 – 9:30PM.  Also open Christmas eve, Dec. 25 and  New Year's Eve. Admission isn't cheap. $9.50 adults, $7.50 for DBG adult members, students or seniors (65+), $6.50 for children (ages 3-12) and $4.50 for children who are members and FREE for for children age 2 and under. No pets. Purchase tickets online to Blossoms of Light here. DBG's Chatfield preserve also will be ablaze for the Trail of Lights holiday show. Same dates, same times, same admission prices. 8500 Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton.

So disappointing... we went to the Botantical Gardens last year and we let down--multiple lights out, displays just ordinary. We had calendar Hudson for this year--so it's a pass, pass, pass.
