Set Our Music FREE - New Music Streaming Sites

Business is not so hot at Apple's  iTunes and you know what? That's good for broke folks like you and me, because US digital music start-ups are now offering FREE online streaming access to millions of songs with an eye toward eventually converting customers to upgrade to slick, user-friendly interfaces and deep libraries that sport subscription fees. This week, both MOG and Rdio announced they are offering FREE online streaming tiers of service for hand held and PC devices.

Undoubtedly these tiers will have limited catalogs and user conditions, but it still widens your FREE music options.Music streaming services typically charge $5-$15 a month to play tunes or albums chosen from a music library. The music subscription industry continues to struggle. Rhapsody, the biggest US music subscription service, has been in business for 10 years but boasts only 80,0000 subscribers.

Since we're talking about FREE music streaming, we do have to mention Grooveshark, which lets you search and stream a massive catalog of manually uploaded tunes for FREE. It technically counts as an on-demand music service, but it’s not as robust and accurate as its peers. Yes, they've had some legal woes stemming from licensing disputes, but it soldiers on and it is easy to use.
